Barbie: Here’s an oldie! This was one of the first songs that I wrote. I think it was around ‘92. I used to sing w/ my brother, Bill Beck, and we used to perform this song. We recorded it, too, but then I fell in love with the engineer, and... that recording was never released. Well, 17 years later, this song makes even MORE sense to me! As we become adults, get married, have children, we begin to have a new perspective on things. Looking back, I realize that I am a product of my childhood. Good or bad, it’s who I am. Don’t misunderstand me, I don’t think I was THAT bad! But God has shown me HIS ways: to love, to live, to train up my kids... some things that only God can show me that need to be changed, or completely erased from my life. I am so thankful that He shows me what needs to change, and if I am willing, He changes me.
I heard someone say recently that people don’t change. THANK GOD they're wrong!
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God, ALL things are possible!!” (Matt. 19:26)
As for influences on this song, I’m thinking Anita Baker. I really got into her music in high school. As for the incredible music behind my vocals, you’ll have to ask Nori about that (he says, Mark Knopfler!).

RESEARCHED HEART
(Barbie Kelley & Nori Kelley)
I’ve been doin’ some research lately
On a subject that interests me
I’ve been checkin’ out books
That are long overdue
On this subject intriguing to me
It’s the hardest homework ever assigned
An uneasy task to start
But in turning the pages of my life
I find the answers in the recesses of my researched heart
These books I don’t find no library
They’re stacked on the shelves of my soul
Everyday is exposed a new mystery to solve
Of how I’m uniquely composed
Defining every mystery may seem like complete misery
Results from confrontation aid in reformation
Not easily accomplished, well worth it when it’s done
To find that I’m not perfect, I need forgiveness from the Son
"WIND, presenting passionate music with high-flying flute, guitar acrobatics and killer chorus sections, seem to have no
hard time proving they can win over even the average music listener."
