Barbie: When I began this song (2003) all I had was the title... for a long time! I knew what I wanted it to be about, but I didn’t get to it for some time.

I believe that there is a huge battle going on over our marriages. Paul says, “Wives, SUBMIT (some translations say RESPECT) to your husbands as to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ is the head of the church, his body, of which he is the Savior. Now as the church submits to Christ, so also wives should submit to their husbands in everything. Husbands, LOVE your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her to make her holy, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word, and to present her to himself as a radiant church, without stain or wrinkle or any other blemish, but holy and blameless...” (Ephesians 5:22-27... Keep going! It’s ALL good!) ”Yeah, yeah, yeah, I hear that at every wedding,” you might say. Unfortunately, I think, in many cases, it’s forgotten shortly thereafter.

If Jesus and the church’s relationship is being compared to marriages, don’t you think that our marriages would be really important witnesses of His love to others? So, this song is about not fighting AGAINST each other in our marriages when we’re dealing w/ trials of our own, but fighting WITH each other, AGAINST the enemy. Of course, you can also figure that our relationships inside the church are quite a witness as well - good or bad. Relationship, Relationship, Relationship! Forgiveness, Forgiveness, Forgiveness. Okay, I’m stepping off of my soap box now...

Nori helped me with the lyrics and this, too, was finished just before we recorded it. Influences? I pulled a Hillary Duff on the verses of this one, I think. (Well, my kids were into Disney... I couldn’t help it!) I love what Nori did with the music on this one! IT TOTALLY ROCKS!! in my humble opin
