This is a song about missions. My (Nori) first 20 years as a Christian consisted of a lot of "Lord, please don't send me to the jungles of Africa!" type prayers. I had no clue as to what being called to missions was about. I still may not have much of a clue, but one thing I've learned is this - God doesn't call us to anything without giving us the desire to do it. For me personally, that desire came AFTER I surrendered to go anywhere for Him in 1995. We ended up in Siberia within a few months! It was a wonderful experience - we did seven concerts there, and ended up returning two more times within the next three years, and producing a CD there.
We also began to feel God's leading to go to Japan, and because we said "yes, Lord," we ended up going numerous times, even producing 4 CD's for the Vineyard there. All this to say that my fears were totally unfounded! I get to do what I love to do (music, worship leading, producing, arranging and recording) in nations on the other side of the world, thanks to God's gracious provision through many friends and churches across America. "Not because of who I am, but because of what He's done," as the song by Casting Crowns says. And it all begins with a simple, "Yes, Lord."
This is one we never had translated, so we recorded it in English only.
lyrics
HEART FOR THE NATIONS
(Nori Kelley)
Seven continents on a ball of blue
Hundreds of countries, each one loved by You
So many places so far away
In need of Your mercy - today is the day...
Lord, give me a heart for the nations
Broaden my narrow view
Lord, give me a heart for the nations
Let me see them, see them as You do
Who is my neighbor, Jesus, help me see
My brother’s keeper - I guess that would be me
So many people so far away
Yet every hair is numbered, so Father I pray...
Who will hear Your plea?
Here am I - send me!
Who will hear Your plea?
Here am I - send me!
"WIND, presenting passionate music with high-flying flute, guitar acrobatics and killer chorus sections, seem to have no
hard time proving they can win over even the average music listener."
